Breaking Bread: Our Global Table

Handmaids are Eucharistic women, Ignatian spiritual directors, supportive friends and hospitable neighbors. We are a religious congregation missioned to bring healing to individuals, hope to communities and transformation in our world.

Your support and collaboration transforms our world through our mission to be Eucharist for others! Your support makes a difference in our lives and lives of those we serve. Thank you for your friendship and generous heart!

Our 2025 Journey of Hope invites us to support the Handmaids and their ministries through the Breaking Bread Fund. “Breaking Bread” calls to mind the image of a shared table where all are welcome. As we cultivate relationships with friends from many different walks of life, our mission is to create spaces of encounter. The financial support we receive from individuals is an expression of their desire to participate in the building up of the Kingdom - to share their daily bread in a meaningful way.

Four projects that will be supported through your generosity:

1. Promoting Dignity in India: Snehasparsham Cafeteria is part of a Vocational Training Centre serving 63 adults specializing in Carpentry, Painting, Home Science, Envelope Making, Computer Data Entry. The Café is a unique initiative run by differently-abled adults, providing them with a platform to develop vocational skills, gain financial independence, and actively participate in society. The cafeteria not only offers quality food and service but also serves as a symbol of empowerment and inclusion. To ensure sustainability, we seek financial support in key areas such as staff and student salaries, material costs, infrastructure maintenance, utility bills, and transportation.

2. Empowering Students in the Philippines: The St. Rafaela Maria Learning Center (SRMLC) serves a depressed neighborhood with more than 2,300 families with the vision for students to develop holistically through Catholic education, that they may become empowered and serve as agents of change in their families and communities. The Center also provides Christian Living classes twice a week. Parents who can afford $10/month contribute to teacher salaries, however more support is needed to justly pay our educators and provide transportation for our Sisters to teach Christian Living.

3. Ensuring Safety in Vietnam: The Thiên Ân Love School seeks support in addressing urgent safety concerns and educational needs through three key components: installation of safety railings, construction of a concrete playground with proper access road, and enhancement of learning spaces. These improvements will directly benefit vulnerable children by creating a safe, conducive environment for education and recreation, ultimately supporting their holistic development and well-being.

4. Accompanying Neighbors in The United States: The Immigrant & Refugee Ministry is a relational, welcoming ministry that strives to uphold the God-given worth and dignity of each person. The mission is two-fold: to welcome, assist, empower, and advocate for and with immigrants and refugees regardless of their status; and to create bridges of solidarity among members of participating churches, volunteers, and immigrants and refugees. IRM provides services without regard to parish boundaries, religious preference, or ethnic or national background. We are IRM a collaborative ministry of St. Anthony of Padua, St. Cronan, St. Margaret of Scotland, St. Pius V, St. Vincent de Paul, and St. Stephen Protomartyr.
